The Great Miami Rowing Center (GMRC) began as part of the original Vision 2020 Plan to take advantage of the beautiful Great Miami River that flows through Hamilton's downtown.

The City of Hamilton's exciting new effort to establish a long term rowing center launched in the spring of '08. The City and its Vision Commission are very interested in seeing the Great Miami River used by citizens in Hamilton and Butler County. Hamilton is the county seat for Butler County and has a rich history of development along the vast corridor created by the River. Over time development in the county has shifted to the Interstate 75 and 71 corridors. The Vision Commission is looking for unique ways to draw people back towards Hamilton's River corridor, creating a recreational centerpiece for the City.

They are a not for-profit rowing community devoted to the growth and prosperity of Hamilton's Historic downtown. The youth team is their cornerstone program and focus. However, GMRC also boasts collegiate, and masters rowing programs. Learn to Row lessons are also available throughout the year.

The Great Miami Rowing Center is now entering its second year with 30 high school students from 8 local high schools as well as a Miami Hamilton rowing team and an adult learn to row and masters program. Visit their website at greatmiamirowing.com.
