Scholarships and Payment Plans

While we have the support of the local school districts, they do not support Great Miami Rowing Center (GMRC) financially. GMRC is supported by rowers’ Program Fees and private and corporate donors. The cost of rowing exceeds what we charge for program dues. Our Program Fees go towards our extensive insurance policy, coaching and instructors, equipment maintenance, and rent.

We are committed to offering our programs to all students regardless of financial situation. The Hamilton Community Foundation, the Rotary Club, and private donors support the organization in order make our growing programs affordable to most families. When applying for a scholarship, keep this information in mind. Please take a moment to review your finances and determine the amount you can contribute.

Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Families will be notified within three business days regarding their application. The family’s portion of the Program Fees will be due within one week of the award or a payment plan can be applied for on this same application. There is no relationship between the award of the scholarship and athletic ability.

All families will be notified within 3-5 days of the application deadline as to the status of their award. Please disregard regular payment due dates until you've heard back regarding your award.

Program Fee Scholarships
Scholarships and Payment Plans are only available for programs exceeding $100 in cost.

Level 3
Level 3 Scholarships are typically awarded to families who would qualify for the free and reduced lunch program in their school district. The family contribution is 20% of the total cost of the program.

Level 2
Level 2 Scholarships are usually awarded to families who are single parents or when one parent is out of work.  The family contribution is 40% of the total cost of the program.

Level 1
This Scholarship is available for families who simply didn’t plan to have their students rowing this spring and need some support. Often this scholarship is only awarded once if the student continues rowing in subsequent seasons. The family contribution is 70% of the total cost of the program.

Keep in mind that the amount a family is responsible for after a scholarship award (20%, 40%, or 70%) can be paid for using a Payment Plan.  The sum of the scholarship will be taken off your first payments.

Payment Plans
Scholarships and Payment Plans are only available for programs exceeding $100 in cost.

The full cost of rowing may be broken into three payments. The first payment is due within seven days of award notification. This can be used in conjunction with a scholarship award.
